Exiled in America won the 2009 Working Films Changemaker Award at the Media That Matters Film Festival.
Exiled in America explores immigration United States, focusing on detention and deportation from the point of view of those who are affected most - children.
More than 1.5 million immigrants have been deported since 1996, when federal judges lost their ability to decide whether a person should be deported or not. Since then, families have been torn apart, often facing situations that violate human rights.
By showing these violations, this film aims to promote the necessary but often overlooked immigration law reform.
