How can films shift public understanding and inspire action for social justice? This workshop will focus on how to leverage the stories within documentaries to amplify your messages, expand your base of support, reach and rally key audiences, build coalitions, and influence decision makers. This workshop will feature several case studies from our Rural Cinema program—a training institute and community engagement initiative that equips leaders in rural areas and small towns across the U.S. to use documentary film as a catalyst for environmental justice and protection.
During this session, you’ll learn our methodology to build community power through strategic film screenings. We’ll walk you through Working Films’ key elements of successful impact screenings, sharing concrete examples of how storytelling has helped advance local environmental justice efforts and brought people together in small towns to address the issues impacting their communities.
