RACE FLICKS

Race Forward and Working Films are thrilled to present Race Flicks, a micro-film festival and track of Facing Race: A National Conference being held in person in St. Louis, Missouri, November 20-22, 2024.

Hannah Hearn, Working Films Impact Coordinator and Fellowships Lead

“We’re honored to be able to collaborate with the Facing Race Conference (over the last 7 years) on the Race Flicks program. This conference is one of the best of the best in terms of bringing together around 4,000 racial justice organizers, educators, researchers, and learners across generations and across the US. Based on audience feedback, the Race Flicks film screening events have brought new knowledge to attendees; provided them with resources, connections, and actions; and motivated attendees to get involved and strengthen their involvement with different racial justice movements.”

Race Flicks, co-curated by Race Forward and Working Films, harnesses the power of documentary film to advance racial and environmental justice. This program highlights critical racial justice issues while providing activists, organizers, and nonprofits with opportunities to use film as a tool for change. In collaboration with selected filmmakers, the Facing Race and Working Films teams curate dynamic discussions and programming that deepen engagement with each film’s themes. Race Flicks prioritizes stories told by those with lived experience, filmmaking that is accountable to the communities represented, and films that empower those most affected by the issues at hand.
